Analytics #
I use Umami (cloud plan, servers in the European Union) to see which articles get read.
Umami sets no cookies and stores no persistent identifier that would let it recognise you across visits. What it records is aggregate: page viewed, referring site, country, device and browser type. None of it identifies you, directly or indirectly, and none of it is sold or shared.
- Purpose: measuring site traffic.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
- Consent: not required. Strictly anonymous, cookieless analytics falls under the exemption set out in the French data protection authority’s (CNIL) guidelines — which is why this site shows no banner.
Contact form #
The form on the contact page sends nothing to a server. It opens your mail client with a pre-filled message, which you remain free to send or discard. No data passes through this site.
Emails I receive are kept for as long as the exchange and its follow-up require, and at most three years after our last contact, for the sole purpose of replying to you.
Local storage #
A rflv-theme key is saved in your browser’s localStorage to remember whether you chose the light or dark theme. It is a display preference you triggered yourself: it feeds no tracking, never leaves your browser, and is exempt from consent. Clearing the site’s data removes it.
Hosting logs #
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (S3 and CloudFront, Paris region). Like any host, AWS processes connection data — including your IP address — to deliver pages and keep its infrastructure secure. This processing is necessary for the site to work at all.
Third-party resources #
None. Every asset this site uses — stylesheets, scripts, fonts, including the KaTeX library that renders mathematical formulas — is served from the site’s own domain. Your browser contacts no third-party server, no CDN, no remote font provider: reading this site discloses your IP address to nobody but its host.
Transfers outside the European Union #
Analytics involves no transfer outside the EU. As for hosting, the site’s files are stored in France (AWS Paris region), but AWS is a US company and its CloudFront delivery network relies on points of presence worldwide; such transfers are governed by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Your rights #
You have the right to access, correct, erase, object to and port your personal data. In practice this only concerns emails you may have sent me — the analytics data being anonymous, it cannot be linked back to you.
